Housed in a 19th-century neoclassical building on the central square — the same courtyard where the Second National Assembly convened in 1823. Displays marble sculptures, inscriptions and finds from the villa of Herodes Atticus. An excellent first stop to understand the ancient history of Kynouria.

One of the most important monastic centres in Arcadia, built in the 12th century on the site of an ancient sanctuary of Asklepios and the villa of Herodes Atticus. The katholikon bears 17th-century frescoes, and ancient marble sculptures are displayed in the courtyard. Today it operates as a convent with a rich spiritual tradition.

A Natura 2000 protected wetland with two lagoons connected to the sea by canals. Home to rare migratory birds, eels and rich aquatic vegetation. The neighbouring beaches of Portes and Kallistó bring strong winds ideal for water sports.

A long beach of fine pebbles and crystal-clear water, known as one of the best spots for windsurfing and kitesurfing in Greece thanks to its steady winds. Set beside the Moustou wetland, it offers spectacular natural beauty and is a favourite among water-sports athletes and fishermen.

A picturesque coastal village with a small harbour and two beaches ideal for kitesurfing. On a nearby hill stand the ruins of the Cyclopean walls of ancient Anthine, mentioned by Thucydides. An ideal starting point for exploring the beaches of southern Kynouria.

A Byzantine convent built in a green gorge, first mentioned around 1310 AD. The katholikon was constructed in 1814 and holds important portable icons, while its dependency church (St George) preserves 13th-century Byzantine frescoes. A place of peace and reflection in exceptional natural surroundings.
10 – 40 kilometres

The most famous pilgrimage site in Arcadia, built on the slopes of Mount Parnon at 900 m altitude. Founded around 717 AD, it houses a miracle-working icon of the Virgin Mary and holds its feast on 23 August. The panoramic view of the Argolic Gulf from the monastery is unforgettable.

A charming coastal village in southern Arcadia with azure waters and traditional tavernas. The Lygaria beach has been awarded a Blue Flag, and the ruins of the ancient acropolis are visible on a nearby hill. An ideally peaceful choice for families.

Two waterfalls of 70 and 45 metres in the heart of Mount Parnon, between the villages of Agios Ioannis and Platanos. Access is via trails of 200–800 m, suitable for family hikes. The best season is spring, when the water flow is at its peak.

A rare natural phenomenon where freshwater springs bubble up from the seabed, creating a blue-green bay of enchanting beauty. A favourite spot for swimmers, kayakers and sunbathers in perfectly calm water.

40+ kilometres

A popular seaside town with sandy beaches, boat trips to nearby islets and a variety of water sports. Seafront restaurants serving fresh fish and a lively atmosphere make it an excellent day-trip choice.

Built at the foot of spectacular red cliffs, it is a world-famous rock-climbing destination. A unique Tsakonian dialect, traditional flavours and the painted Dafnonas gorge — a truly distinctive place.

A significant ancient Arcadian city featuring the classical Temple of Athena Alea, a work of the sculptor Scopas. The archaeological museum displays rare statues and finds from the classical and Hellenistic eras.

The ancient theatre of Epidaurus — one of the best-preserved in the world — seats 14,000 spectators and has extraordinary acoustics. Part of the sanctuary of Asklepios, god of medicine, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The mythical seat of Agamemnon, UNESCO-listed — the Lion Gate, beehive tombs and the ruins of the palace of the Atreides. One of the most important archaeological sites in the Mediterranean, easily combined with Nafplio and Epidaurus.

A traditional mountain village on the south-eastern slopes of Parnon at 1,127 m, surrounded by fir forests. Starting point for marked trails of the E4 National Path — cool in summer, snowy in winter.

Wedged into a sheer purple cliff, it appears to be 'hooked' on the precipice — one of the most awe-inspiring monasteries in Greece. It houses a miracle-working icon of the Virgin and is a top pilgrimage destination. Perfectly combined with a visit to Leonidio and Kosmas.
